LEARN TO SKATE
CanSkate – for skaters 4 years of age and older
CanSkate is Canada’s flagship learn-to-skate program for beginners of any age that teaches fundamental movements and basic skills. Skaters are taught in a group lesson format by a NCCP certified professional coach. CanSkate is designed for future figure, hockey, ringette, speed or recreational skaters.
Most of our CanSkate programs run for the entire winter season – mid-September to end of March.
The Friday night CanSkate program runs for the fall season only - 13 weeks - mid-September to December.
For the 2019-2020 season, skaters must be four (4) years of age by December 31, 2019.
The fifty (50) minute program consists of an on ice warm up, three (3) 10 minute lessons with 3 different coaches, a group activity and an on ice cool down.
Skaters earn ribbons and badges as skills are mastered.
CSA approved hockey helmets are mandatory for all CanSkaters.
For all of our CanSkate programs, our coaches are assisted by trained Program Assistants. Our Program Assistants attend a training course each year to ensure they have the skills necessary to assist our Professional Coaches to deliver a quality, safe program that is also fun for the skaters.
