LEARN TO SKATE
Pre-Power CanSkate is an option for skaters who are not ready to enter a CanPowerSkate session. The pre-requisite for CanPowerSkate is Stage 4 in CanSkate, or equivalent skill set.
The Pre-Power CanSkate program is filled with fundamental “learn to skate” skills that will enable skaters to pursue the ice sport of their choice. Allowing skaters to wear the equipment required for their sport will better prepare them in their development.
The Thursday night session of our Pre-Power CanSkate program runs for the entire winter season – mid-September to end of March.
The Friday night session of our Pre-Power CanSkate program runs for the fall season only - 13 weeks - mid-September to December.
For the 2019-2020 season, skaters must be four (4) years of age by December 31, 2019.
The fifty (50) minute program consists of an on ice warm up, three (3) 10 minute lessons with 3 different coaches, a group activity and an on ice cool down.
Skaters earn ribbons and badges as skills are mastered.
CSA approved hockey helmets are mandatory for all CanSkaters.
For all our CanSkate programs, our coaches are assisted by trained Program Assistants. Our Program Assistants attend a training course each year to ensure they have the skills necessary to assist our Professional Coaches to deliver a quality, safe program that is also fun for the skaters.
